I’m a mom of two from South Africa. I don’t have a fancy degree, but I have a stubborn fascination with figuring things out, and a real impatience with anything that puts useful tools behind a wall of jargon.

A few years ago I was offered the chance to help build a game. So I started teaching myself to code, and somewhere along the way I bumped into ChatGPT. I played with it for a few weeks, couldn’t figure it out, and decided it was useless.

But I kept coming back to it. Every couple of months I’d try again, get frustrated, and put it down. None of it worked the way the YouTube videos said it would, and I was honestly annoyed. Then one day I decided I was actually going to figure this thing out. Properly. And I did.

At the time it felt like magic. Looking back now, the AI from then was pretty rough compared to today. But it still completely changed how I worked.

Since then, AI has become part of how I do almost everything. I’ve built bots and full systems with it, used it for game design, admin, emails, and plenty more. Every LLM (the big ones, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) is different. Once you know which one is good at what, that’s when AI really starts to feel powerful. You can save hours in your week, every week.

Here’s what I’ve noticed. Most people aren’t behind because they’re not capable. They’re behind because everyone’s talking about AI in a way that makes it sound complicated. It’s not. Once someone shows you the basics in plain English, the door cracks open and you start seeing it everywhere. That’s what these workshops are for.
